Full Day Seminar on Income Tax & GST
Tax Bar Association, Guwahati and NE Chapter of ICSI jointly organised a Full Day Seminar at Lions Eye Auditorium, Chatribari, Guwahati on 7th March, 2020 on the topics “Income Tax & GST”. The Seminar started with welcome address by Advocate Rajesh Agarwalla, Chairman of Seminar Committee. CA. Bhupendra Shah, speaker from Mumbai on Income Tax topics was felicitated by past president CA. Mahaveer Chand Betala. The Seminar was inaugurated by lightening of auspicious lamp by speaker CA. Bhupendra Shah. CS. Bishal Harlalka, Chairman of NE Chapter of ICSI addressed the participants and thanked president of Tax Bar Association for the joint Seminar. In his presidential address, CA. Gopal Singhania, President of Tax Bar Association stated that the subjects of the Seminar are of much importance and relevance for the auditors, tax consultants and tax payers. He further added that the Association is overwhelmed by the response for the Seminar received from all the stakeholders. Thereafter the technical sessions started.
In the 1st Technical Session, CA. Bhupendra Shah from Mumbai excellently explained the topic “Assessment, Survey & Search post Demonetisation” with his power point presentation. In the 2nd Technical Session, CA Bhupendra Shah from Mumbai explained the topic “Vivaad Se Vishwas Scheme 2020” with his power point presentation. The 2nd Technical Session was also attended and addressed by Sri Raju Tayeng, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Guwahati along with Sri Omi Ningshen, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax, Guwahati. Past president Advocate Ramesh Goenka felicitated Sri Raju Tayeng and Direct Taxes Committee Chairman CA. Somesh Bose felicitated Sri Omi Ningshen.
In the 3rd Technical Session, Advocate Vinay Shraff from Kolkata explained the topic “Input Tax Credit, Interest & Penalty – Recent Issues in GST Litigation”. Advocate Shraff was felicitated by Indirect Taxes Committee Chairman CA. Bikash Agarwala. In the 4th Technical Session, CA Vivek Jain from Guwahati explained the topic “New GST Return Forms” with his power point presentation. CA. Vivek Jain was felicitated by Joint Secretary Advocate Bharat Kumar Purohit.
A lucky draw was also held in the seminar and the winners Advocate Santosh Kumar Tewari, CA. Arindam Das and CA. Rajesh Jain were each awarded a silver coin.
The whole Seminar was an interactive session wherein the delegates asked questions simultaneously which were satisfactiroly replied by the learned speakers. The Seminar concluded with vote of thanks by the Secretary CS. Amit Pareek. About 200 chartered accountants, cost accountants, company secretaries, advocates, tax consultants and tax payers participated in the Seminar.
