TBA Cricket League, 2020
Tax Bar Association, Guwahati organized TBA Cricket League, 2020 on Sunday 2nd February, 2020 at Judges' Field, Guwahati. Altogether 8 teams participated in the league. 4 teams of TBA - Panthers, Thunders, Rhinos and Lions, one team each from CGST, SGST and Income Tax Departments and one team from ICSI. Four knock out matches were played.
1st knock out between TBA Rhinos and SGST Bulls was a close fight in which TBA Rhinos won by 6 runs. CA. Subhash Surana of TBA Rhinos was declared Man of the Match. 2nd knock out between TBA Panthers and IT Cricket Kings was easily won by IT Cricket Kings by 31 runs. Sri Rahul Nahakpam of IT Cricket Kings bagged Man of the Match. 3rd knock out between TBA Lions and CS Warriors was one sided match in which CS Warriors won by huge 99 runs. CS. Balwant Singh of CS Warriors who scored the only century of the League was sole claimant of Man of the Match. 4th knock out between TBA Thunders and CGST Champions was easily won by TBA Thunders by 8 wickets. Sri Madhubanta Choudhury of TBA Thunders was Man of the match.
1st Semi final was played between CS Warriors and IT Cricket Kings in which CS Warriors easily won by 38 runs. CA. Deepak Jain of CS Warriors bagged Man of the Match. 2nd Semi final was played between TBA Thunders and TBA Rhinos in which TBA Thunders crushed the Rhinos in just 2.4 overs and won the match by 10 wickets. CA. Neeraj Bafna bagged Man of the Match.
Final match between TBA Thunders and CS Warriors was the most thrilling match of the League. Batting first, TBA Thunders scored 127 runs in 10 overs for loss of 4 wickets. CS Warriors gave a tough fight but their innings ended at 118 for loss of 9 wickets. TBA Thunders won the League finals by 9 runs. CA. Neeraj Bafna was Man of the Match.
CS. Balwant Singh of CS Warriors bagged the award for Best Batsman of the League and CA. Neeraj Bafna bagged Best Bowler of the League award. CS. Balwant Singh of CS Warriors was also declared Best Player of the League. All the players of winners and runners up teams were given medals and trophies to the Winners and Runners up teams.
This was perhaps the first cricket tournamnet of its type in which teams of all the tax departments and tax professionals played together. The League was appreciated by all the departments and all the viewers present in the field. It was also tracked live by many on Cricheroes App.
